Is this 1798-1810 coin silver John and Peter Targee handled cup the best New York handled cup of its type available? Unquestionably! A coin silver cann or cup probably with an extravagant monogram and no removals or repairs. Simple stepped foot and a suited strap handle. Cup tapers to the rim which is straight with no lip and only the slightest and most elegant lip. Monogram is four letters which is unusual and appears to be: 'GHB'.
Some minor surface scratching, and very small dints, but overall condition is very good and commensurate with age and use. Stamped 'J&PT' and with pseudomarks. Cup holds 8 ounces. Beautifully handmade with lots of perfect hammer marks on the interior.
