1820 American Coin Silver Porringer with Boston Provenance - Drummond Councilman Family

$1,200.00
A gorgeous American coin silver porringer from Boston. Circular, with openwork cast "keyhole" handle and of a light-medium gauge of silver. Handsomely engraved "Christiana Drummond Councilman Oct. 6, 1897" and then later "Christiana Councilman Morgan February 14th, 1954". Unmarked for maker, but silver contents is guaranteed. A near identical handle can be seen on our 1830 unmarked coin silver porringer. I believe this is c. 1820, but it could be earlier.

She was the lover of American psychologist Henry Murray, who commissioned Gaston Lachaise to make a nude portrait statue of her. Morgan was an alcoholic and died at at Denis Bay, Saint John, U.S. Virgin Island under unclear circumstances age 69 where her body was found near the beach, drowned in less than two feet of water.
