1888 Gorham Narragansett Providence, Rhode Island Sterling Silver Salt Cellar Pair (model 1990)

188 Gorham Narragansett like pattern sterling silver salt cellar pair. Marked clearly for Gorham (lion, anchor, G). Extremely elegant and with good finish. Gorham made the Narragansett pattern to celebrate the proximity of the company to the ocean and made numerous pieces at this time that were intended to celebrate the beauty and the power of the Atlantic Ocean. These are not personalized. Condition is outstanding. Catalogue number 1990, and the star date mark for 1888. Each has hand work, particularly in the hand sawn notches at the shell edges as well as the accumulation of particles on the bottoms. In other words, each is intentionally unique and they are not identical.
