An 1874 sterling silver wine cup by Frederick Brasted of London. Brasted, who was educated at Christ's Hospital, Newgate Street, was born to Thomas Brasted of Suffolk Street, Cambridge Road, Middlesex, grocer (and occasional carpenter) (London Metropolitan Archives, ELJL/1825/21). After his apprenticeship, he was in partnership with John Bell as Bell & Brasted. Brasted worked independently following on the death of Bell.

Very simply decorated and with a fancy Vicrtorian-era monogram. Handsomely accented with beaded accents at the foot and stem base and with a stepped rim. Cup comfortably holds an 8 ounce pour. Condition is very good with some minor scars, surface scratching, and small dints commensurate with age and use. No leaks. Drop dead gorgeous. Recovered from a Boston dealer, full provenance not known.

Dimensions: 3.5" x 6” tall.
Weight: 149 grams
