1685-1740 Early Colonial 3" Silver Caster

$2,350.00
We believe this to be an early colonial silver caster probably made on the early side of 1685-1740 of solid unmarked silver. It was recovered years ago from a New York estate and is notable for it's bayonet slide fitting for the cap and the very ornate cut work on the lid. All made by hand with early soldering. Seamed and banded in its construction. The MFA has a similarly constructed 1685 toy caster in their collection, accession number 63.957 (https://collections.mfa.org/objects/39424/toy-caster;jsessionid=2F84846BD24AE351AB021EA5D5BABFFE?ctx=39653fb5-9a18-409c-8c11-d346a1793aa1&idx=1151). This piece is diminutive at a mere 3" and 30 grams. If you want it polished before it ships, I can do that at your option.
