1729 Amsterdam Gilt-Bowl Marriage Spoon with Flora Finial – Dutch Silver (45 g)
$1,200.00
A scarce early 18th-century Dutch solid silver spoon, fully hallmarked for Amsterdam, 1729, with maker’s and town marks. The spoon features a large, deeply gilded bowl and a figural Flora finial — the Roman goddess of flowers — symbolizing love, fertility, and prosperity.
This type of spoon, known as a “marriage spoon” (trouwlepel), was traditionally given as a wedding or betrothal gift in the Netherlands. The heavy gilding of the bowl both protected the silver and elevated its ceremonial appearance.
Length: 6.75"
Weight: 45 grams

Lengte: 17 cm
Gewicht: 45 gram
