This early and very fine George II 1730 John Swift of London silver mug was recently recovered from an Ohio estate. Condition is near perfect with hardly any flaw in this heirloom gauge silver cup. This mug comfortably holds 20 ounces, easily accommodating your bottle of beer. It features classic Rococo stylings with repousse scrolls and floral flourishes. A stepped circular foot and an S-scroll handle with an acanthus flourish. Extremely handsome and with an old monogram. Marked faintly with the crowned leopard, date letter P in shield, lion passant all just above the decorations toward the rim. The bottom with an IS for John Swift inside an oval dashed line cartouche. Weight is a heavy 395 grams.
