1750-60 Jonathan Trott of Boston Coin Silver Tablespoon

$1,600.00
A short and stout pre-revolutionary coin silver tablespoon by Boston maker, Jonathan Trott. Trott was born in Boston and apprenticed to an unknown master. Also engraved later 'Raymond F C Trott' in a 19th century cursive script. Upturned terminal and a central midrib spine. Five tablespoons have been known to have been made previously by Trott. This one is similar to others in the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston collection with its distinctive eleven-lobed scallop on its picture back. Mark on this is 'J. Trott' in rectangular cartouche [Reference: Kane variant A]. Monogrammed 'A:P', owner unknown but possibly documented. Very few pieces of Trott's work have survived and almost no larger pieces. This spoon with its later Trott engraving must have been made for a family member. Condition is very good. Length: XXX" Weight: 40 g Check out some of my other sterling silver here: https://www.etsy.com/shop/DCSILVERSHOP?ref=search_shop_redirect§ion_id=7399760 Pounce on this terrific set or just browse around the shop! https://www.etsy.com/your/shops/DCSILVERSHOP
