1770-1780 Lancaster, PA John Ewing Coin Silver Cream Jug
$2,400.00
Marvelous John Ewing (1755-1799) coin silver unmarked cream pot originally found near Allentown by antiques expert, Cliff Nunn and recovered now from the Rich Archer collection. Round foot sparingly decorated with a beaded rim, also found at the midriff and rim. To this attached a scroll handle with a feathered rounded strap. Condition is very good. Monogrammed in period block letter at the foot: "CE" and later with a showy cursive monogram of 'GEE', evidently a descendant. Nice hammered details and toolmarks under the foot.
While the piece is unmarked, it is clearly from the Ewing shop, another example. having been sold
