An early and rare Chinese export silver marrow scoop dating to the late 18th or early 19th century in Canton by Cut Shing. This intriguing piece bears a set of well-executed pseudomarks rather than conventional assay marks, a feature seen on some early Chinese export silver made for the Western market. It is further engraved with an elegant cursive "CTC" monogram, adding to its period appeal. The elongated double-ended form is typical of marrow scoops used at refined dining tables for extracting marrow from bones, and at 10 inches in length it is an unusually generous example. It remains in very good antique condition with an attractive patina and honest wear consistent with its age. An uncommon and highly collectible piece for enthusiasts of early Chinese export silver or unusual antique flatware.
Dimensions: 10" in length.
Weight is about 46 grams.
CODE: LRC
