Elegant large 18th century ladle in the 'Celtic Point' style marked twice with a mark S&B in a serrated cartouche, very likely the short-lived partnership of Samuel Stiles and Jedediah Baldwin. On July 20, 1791, the partnership between S. Stiles and J. Baldwin was advertised nearly opposite the Meetinghouse in Northampton. This partnership lasted not quite a year. The records at the Smithsonian indicate they also made one surveying compass known.
The ladle is in excellent condition with a hand engraved 'D' monogram in a bold and daring script. Condition is excellent with some age appropriate wear and patina.
15” long, ~5” wide across the bowl.
209 grams or 6.72 troy ounces.
