A beautifully refined (though heavy gauge) Austrian silver cream or milk pitcher, dated 1798 and made in Vienna possibly by noted silversmith Lorenz Riedlechner. This elegant Neoclassical vessel features a sleek, tapered silver body and a laterally mounted turned wood handle, likely fruitwood or walnut, secured with silver fittings. This piece is both well-preserved and stylistically restrained, with a sleek and timeless profile — showcasing the refined urban taste of Vienna at the turn of the 18th century.
The pitcher bears full Viennese silver hallmarks:
"13" standard mark for 13-lot (.812) silver
Date mark for 1798
Maker’s mark “LR” possibly for Lorenz Riedlechner (active 1796–1820)
Assayer's mark(?) “CA”
A visible tremolierstriche (assayer's scrape) is also present
Dimensions: approx. 5" tall x 4.5" wide including handle
Weight: 206 grams
Condition is good with some normal patina and minor bruises and a slight wobble at the lid hinge.
