1810 Georgian Telescopic Sterling Silver Candlesticks by Sheffield, England Maker, John Roberts & Co.

$1,400.00
Hallmarked in Sheffield in 1810, this impressive matched pair of Georgian telescopic antique sterling silver candlesticks. This matched George III set is highly decorative, standing on round pedestal bases and featuring removable bobeches. Each candlestick measures 10" tall extended (8" lowered). The bottoms are old Sheffield plate, a burdensome and difficult process (slight plate loss). I have had them professionally cleaned to a "butlers finish" and had the internal mechanism refelted for years of service (mechanism is tight but will break in with use). Maker's mark is rubbed. All sterling silver components are marked with maker mark, lion passant, Sheffield crown, and date letter 'L', as well as the George III tax mark. All pieces are present and original. Overall condition is good for age with bruises, subtle split (stable), and repairs (shown). Sturdy and heavy with a fine finish. Check out some of my other UK sterling silver here: https://www.etsy.com/shop/DCSILVERSHOP?ref=search_shop_redirect§ion_id=6409956 Or just browse around the shop! https://www.etsy.com/shop/DCSILVERSHOP
