1814-1952 Set of 9 Dutch Silver Apostle Demitasse Spoons — Twisted Handles, Figural Finials, (88 g)
$175.00
An attractive group of nine Dutch silver demitasse spoons featuring the distinctive twisted handles and figural finials characteristic of traditional European apostle spoon designs. Each spoon measures approximately 4⅛ inches in length, making these charming examples suitable for espresso, demitasse service, or display in a collection of antique and vintage silver.
The finely modeled figural finials provide individual character, while the twisted stems lend visual interest and a pleasing traditional form. Apostle spoons draw on a long European tradition of silverware decorated with religious figures, particularly popular in the Netherlands and other parts of northern Europe.
The spoons bear Dutch sword marks and an additional, presently unidentified maker's mark, read as AJ2. The sword mark is consistent with Dutch silver marking; the precise date and maker would benefit from examination of clear hallmark photographs.
Together, the nine spoons weigh approximately 88 grams, making this a substantial and appealing group of small silver collectibles.
