This large French sterling silver (950) napkin ring built painstakingly over days, not stamped out in a factory. The quality is unmistakable when you feel it in your hand. Sturdy build and a medium to heavy gauge. Monogrammed 'AM' in an elegant script on the reserve. Beautifully decorated with engine .
Stamped with the French Minerve or Minerva hallmark, the tiny number "1" within that mark means it's 1st quality for .950 or better silver content (at least 95% pure and higher than the .925 standard for "sterling" silver). Marked for the maker with a poorly struck mark (if you recognize the maker, please let me know!). There is a 'bigorne' mark on the interior which roughly dates this to 1819-1838 when these marks were used.
In very good condition with a fleabite on one edge.
41 grams
