1828-35 Silver Serving Spoon by James Madison Barrows of Tolland, CT

Offered here, a rare regional Tolland, CT coin silver large serving spoon engraved with a name (M F Prentice). This spoon was hand made in the early 19th century of sterling silver by Connecticut smith James Madison Barrows. Reverse is stamped "J M Barrows" in a rectangular cartouche as well as "Pure Coin". Condition is very good with patina, minor dints in the bowl, and surface scratching typical of a piece of this age. Dimensions: 8.75" and about 56.7 grams. Recovered from a picker in the United Kingdom.
