1835 John Targee of New York Silver Hanoverian Spoon Set of 11 - American Federal Silver (65 g)

$300.00
A gorgeous later John Targee of New York fiddleback 9" serving spoon with an elegant engraved period monogram 'MG' on the handle. Made by the New York silversmith, John Targee. Probably made right around 1835 in New York City at his 24 Gold Street workshop. Each is well marked for John Targee (‘IT’) and his pseudomarks. Patina and satin finish are perfect and not overpolished. No damage noted. Very conservatively, there are typical signs of use commensurate with age, subtle areas of dark patina, slight surface scratches. Marks are crisp! 65 grams. Just a touch over 5.75" in length. Made of a heavy gauge.
