1850–1852 Heineman & Jenkins of Boston Coin Silver Dessert Spoon Pair (78 g)
$210.00
American coin silver dessert spoon pair marked HEINEMAN & JENKINS in a deeply struck small rectangular cartouche. Documented as Bernard Heinemann and Nathaniel Jenkins in Kovel craftsmen references as an active firm operating 1850–1852, based in Boston.
The spoon follows a restrained mid-19th century American form: flat fiddle-derived handle, rounded shoulders, and an elongated elliptical bowl scaled for dessert service rather than teaspoon use. At just over 8.5 inches, these are classic dessert spoons.
The engraving “ERK” appears on the reverse terminal in a controlled flowing cursive hand, consistent with original period personalization rather than later addition.
Pieces from Heineman & Jenkins are scarce in surviving record, with known examples appearing primarily as isolated flatware forms (sugar spoon), suggesting a limited retail window and modest production scale.
Roughly 8.5+" and 78 grams.
