Scarce 1864 Gorham Medallion pattern salt cellar pair with medallion portraits from the era of the American Civil War. Marked clearly for Gorham (lion, anchor, G). Extremely elegant and perhaps with traces of gilding on the inside. These are personalized for 'Aleck.' and 'Nina.' in an attractive period script. Condition is very good with a subtle notch in the bottom of the foot of one where a prior owner tested it. [Reference: Soeffing] Dimensions: about 1.75" tall by 2.5" across the bowl lips.
