1875-1890 Peruvian Silver Soperа Covered Tureen with Repoussé Birds (1500g)

$4,500.00
A substantial late 19th century Peruvian silver sopera of pedestal form, richly worked throughout with repoussé decoration featuring birds, scrolling foliage, and dense punch-textured ground. This is a true table service piece—handled, lidded, and raised—executed in the robust, hand-worked tradition of the Peruvian Republic period. The domed cover is surmounted by a finely cast finial, while the body is encircled with continuous figural ornament. The overhanging lid presents a tooled border, adding visual depth without compromising structure. The piece is unmarked, which is consistent with much Peruvian silver of the 19th century, particularly outside formal assay systems. This is a heavy and well-scaled example—large enough for true service, yet more intimate than grand European banquet wares. The slightly rough cast elements and hand-finished surfaces speak to workshop production rather than later industrial manufacture. Condition: Good antique condition with expected wear, surface variation, and light irregularities consistent with hand production Weight: 1500 grams. Volume: 96 fluid ounces (about 6-12 servings) Dimensions: 9" H x 11"W Check out some of my other mixed silver holloware here: https://www.etsy.com/shop/DCSILVERSHOP?ref=shop_sugg§ion_id=6783258 Or just browse around the shop! https://www.etsy.com/shop/DCSILVERSHOP
