A delightful and scarce sterling silver baby spoon by Daniel Low of Salem, Massachusetts, dating to the late 19th century. The handle features a beautifully modeled figural design of chicks hatching from eggs, a whimsical and tender motif that perfectly captures the spirit of early American children’s silver. The back of the handle bears a lovely period cursive personalization, adding warmth and authenticity to this heirloom piece. I cannot locate another example of this spoon at the time of this writing.
