1880-1910 American Sterling-Mounted Stag Antler Corkscrew

$410.00
A most handsome example of a gentleman’s corkscrew, the T-shaped handle fashioned from a section of richly figured stag antler and mounted with sterling silver Gothic Revival strapwork, its ends capped in silver, one engraved with an elaborate monogram “HBD.” The shaft is fitted with a brass ferrule and terminates in a boldly forged steel worm with an openwork crown. Stamped STERLING and weighing a substantial 305 grams, it measures 5.5 inches across the handle by 6 inches overall. Secure, tight, and still functional, it epitomizes the blend of utility and ornament that distinguished American silver novelties of the late nineteenth century.
