1898 Antique Ansonia Shelf Clock c. 1898 | Original Classical Decorated Glass | Time-Only

$220.00
Authentic late-19th-century Ansonia shelf clock, dating to circa 1898, featuring its original neoclassical decorated lower glass and a quiet time-only movement. The original glass displays a refined classical architectural motif with two Greek columns, a swag, and a large central scallop, all intact and visually striking. The original paper label lists Ansonia’s General Offices at 11–19 Cliff Street, New York, consistent with late-1890s production. A period pencil inscription on the back dated May 10, 1898 further supports the dating. The painted metal dial shows light, honest fading, fully legible and attractive. The veneered case presents well with very minor veneer losses, consistent with age. The clock is fitted with a key-wound time-only (non-striking) movement, as manufactured, making it ideal for quiet rooms.
