1905-1910 Sterling Silver and Mixed Metal Joseph Heinrichs With Spearpoint Handle - Letter Opener
$1,800.00
This striking 12-inch antique letter opener features a bold spearpoint blade and a beautifully crafted handle in the distinctive mixed-metal style attributed to Joseph Heinrichs. The combination of copper and silver, with hand-wrought texture, riveting, and an elegant, functional design, reflects the early 20th-century American Arts & Crafts movement.
Though unmarked, the form and materials are closely aligned with known Heinrichs works from the New York workshop circa 1905–1910. The spearpoint blade shows evidence of an old chip, reworked in antiquity—adding character and a sense of true utility over time. A substantial and evocative desk accessory, equally at home in a refined office, collector’s cabinet, or as a unique gift for lovers of fine metalwork.
Good antique condition. Tip of blade chipped and reshaped in antiquity. Unmarked. Patina consistent with age. It is unclear if the setting of the handle is original. It may have been reset in its brown epoxy.
Length: 12 inches
