1930's Antonio Castillo Salt Cellar in Sterling Silver Taxco 930

$145.00
Over the years I've had many pieces of Castillo silver, but this one appears far older than any I've encountered previously and the mark must be from the earliest days of this Taxco silversmithing dynasty. I strongly suspect that this is by Antonio Castillo, probably made around 1939 when he first established the independent shop and left William Spratling's workshop. It's made in a heavy gauge and has a rare 930 mark on the bottom. This is very well constructed and believed to be a very rare piece. As with some great pieces of silver, this rings beautifully just like a bell! If you have additional information on this piece, please let me know. Condition is excellent. Weight is 43 grams. 1.5" tall and 2" across the bowl
