$5,000.00
A svelte martelé finish Chinese export silver cocktail shaker and six cup set with hand chased bamboo and moon pattern made for the export market in sterling silver. Shaker is typical 3 piece with strainer design and all pieces open and close smoothly and snugly. The shaker is stamped for the maker 'Jade Green" shop on the bottom and was produced in Beijing, China between 1935-1945. Weight is 893 grams (around 28.7 troy ounces). Height is 25.4cm (about 10.5"). The shaker is meant to hold up to about 950mL (32 oz.) and each cup can hold a four ounce pour. This set is in outstanding condition with no major issues noted. This has been XRF's and is guaranteed to be sterling (92.5%) or better. Overall, this is a superb and rare item from which any person would be lucky to drink. When bamboo and the moon are combined in Chinese decorative arts, they often convey a message of resilience and harmony. The moon’s serene, reflective qualities complement bamboo’s upright and flexible nature. Together, they symbolize enduring beauty, strength through adversity, and balance in life. The imagery might evoke the peaceful coexistence of natural forces or express aspirations for a harmonious life that balances both softness (the moon) and strength (the bamboo). Bamboo under the moonlight could symbolize quiet determination or the strength of family and unity despite challenges.
