Spectacular hand wrought and elegantly engraved covered box in very good condition. Probably made in Isfahan, possibly 19th century. Metal content is not fully known. It appears to be a low grade silver made in a high copper alloy. This item is perfectly sized to accommodate small items that require a nice tight box. Versatile. This is heavy gauge, made to last a lifetime.
It portrays a savage and brutal scene of Tamerlane receiving tribute from conquered enemies as he forces them to ride over the fallen bodies of their loved ones.
Condition is outstanding. A couple of bumps and bruises, but in overall very good condition.
Weight is 282 grams and it is 4.5” across.
