1953–1961 Mark J. Scearce Shelbyville, Kentucky Dwight D. Eisenhower Sterling Silver Julep Cups, Pair (302 g)

$1,200.00
A matching pair of sterling silver Kentucky mint julep cups by Mark J. Scearce of Shelbyville, Kentucky, made during the presidency of Dwight D. Eisenhower, 1953–1961. Each cup bears Scearce's distinctive presidential-series markings, including the eagle and DDE designation for Dwight David Eisenhower. As well, they are of course marked with Mark J Scearce Shelbyville Kentucky, and STERLING. The cups have the classic Scearce tapered form with finely beaded rims and bases, combining the traditional appearance of the nineteenth-century Kentucky julep cup with the exceptionally substantial hand-fabricated character for which Scearce's work is known. Each measures approximately 3½ inches tall by 3 inches in diameter and holds approximately 12 fluid ounces. This is a particularly attractive matching pair, each retaining a fine, bright finish with only slight signs of use commensurate with age. There are no significant dents or condition issues, making the pair especially well suited for use as barware or for display as examples of mid-century American sterling and Kentucky craftsmanship. Dimensions: Approximately 3½" H × 3" W each Capacity: Approximately 1½ cups / 12 fl. oz. each Weight: 302 grams combined Material: Sterling silver Maker: Mark J. Scearce, Shelbyville, Kentucky Date: 1953–1961 Check out some of my other US sterling silver here: https://www.etsy.com/shop/DCSILVERSHOP?ref=shop_sugg§ion_id=19121632 Or just browse around the shop! https://www.etsy.com/shop/DCSILVERSHOP
