9" Bronze Figure of a Warrior Ming Dynasty, 17th Century | 明十七世紀 銅佛教人物立像

Offered is a Ming Dynasty (1368 to 1644) or possibly earlier Chinese bronze polychrome figure of a warrior or king type figure wearing some form of battle gear. His hair is pulled into a tight bun and he has a long straight beard, traces of red on the lips. He probably carried a long pole weapon like a guandao (偃月刀) now absent, and there is a small loss at the hair toggle. The figure, with traces of bright gilding and paint, is executed in bronze and is beautifully figured. He stands upon a square pedestal. Overall, a really interesting piece with a very rich and authentic patina. Dimensions: 9" tall and about 1316 grams in weight.
