Antique Rabari Tribal Bangle, 19th c. to early 20th Gujarat India, Solid Cast Bronze Bracelet, Ethnographic Jewelry
$125.00
This authentic and heavy tribal bangle was crafted by the Rabari people of Gujarat, a pastoral nomadic community known for their bold, symbolic metal adornments. Cast from solid bronze or brass in the 19th or early 20th century, the bangle features traditional Rabari design elements—raised granulation, droplet borders, and geometric motifs in relief.
These bangles were worn by Rabari women as part of ceremonial dress and social identity, often stacked high on the forearm. The interior is raw and unfinished, as typical of genuine tribal pieces made to be worn over fabric or permanently affixed. This piece is particularly substantial and sculptural, making it both a powerful adornment and a rare artifact of South Asian tribal life.
Dimensions: 2.2" wide and 8.15" inner circumference. Note the bracelet is too large for the model.
Weight: 370 grams
Condition: Very good antique condition with age-appropriate patina. Interior surface left as cast.
