A delightful George III pewter mug with an incredible patina. This mug was made ca 1780 by pewterer Birch & Villers and so marked near the rim. This is a standard pint size fully hallmarked for London, England (Crown, WR). Overall, this is a beautiful piece and a rare form.
I have left the finish in "as found" condition. Recently recovered from A Connecticut dealer. It has ab old 1975 dealer's tag with partially correct information. That California dealer valued the cup at $175 at the time.
