Incredible c. 1876 carved cameo of George Washington framed neatly in a solid gold brooch with a rope twist border and a safety chain (probably replaced). This brooch was likely worn by a patriotic person around 1876 to commemorate the centennial of the United States. The cameo is skillfully carved with the George Washington profile in high relief and in intricate detail. The condition is incredible with no chips or cracks or scratches. This is one of the most exciting pieces of jewelry I've ever had.
Unmarked. Acid tested at 10K gold.
