c. 1890 Sterling Silver Enamel American 38 Star Flag Demitasse Spoon - Patriotic (14 g)
$120.00
Impressive small sized demitasse spoon with an absolutely gorgeous enamel American 38 star flag in the bowl and and eagle with shield for the terminal. This is made c. 1890. Seems to be a rare example. Marked 925S and with an unidentified maker's mark. Condition is very good, but note the minor enamel losses on the stem.
The 38-star U.S. flag became official on July 4, 1877, and remained in use until July 3, 1890. This flag design was adopted following the admission of Colorado as the 38th state on August 1, 1876.
