This ca 1910 antique buckle is one of the more interesting examples of a nurse's buckle you'll likely find. This piece features two brightly gilt sterling silver buckles. Many cast buckles of this type were made in England and Scotland. Since this piece is marked STERLING, it may be American. Overall, the origins of this elaborate piece are not fully known.
Either way, the two pieces fit together very precisely to form a two-piece buckle. Size is 2.6" x 7.5 " clasped. Weight is 67 grams. Made to carry a 2.25" strap.
