$210.00
An attractive small ancient Greek bronze coin, attributed provisionally to Thurium (Thurii), in the region of Lucania in southern Italy, dating to approximately the 4th century BC. The coin reflects the distinctive civic coinage of one of the important Greek colonies of Magna Graecia. The obverse is believed to depict the helmeted head of Athena, while the reverse features a bull with a fish beneath it, a characteristic motif associated with the coinage of Thurium. The precise variety and date remain to be confirmed, as related types were issued over an extended period. Measuring approximately 15.75 mm in diameter and weighing approximately 4+ grams by a scale with limited precision, the coin retains the appeal of a genuine ancient object handled across many centuries.
