Fine Tuareg Embossed Leather Covered Box from Estate of Ambassador

Exceptional embossed large North African covered leather box that once belonged to Ambassador to Kenya, Smith Hempstone and was acquired directly from his Maryland estate. Condition is good but not perfect with expected scuffs and bruises. The deep patterns are exceptional in both their precision and in their detail. The leather is applied over a hard base, presumably wood. The design is endlessly fascinating. This would be an ideal box to contain jewelry or other treasures. Beautiful.
