A handsome Georgian Dublin sterling silver marrow scoop dating from the late 18th or early 19th century. Although the maker's mark has been effaced with age, the remaining hallmarks identify it as an authentic Irish-made example. The scoop features the elegant plain form so characteristic of Georgian table silver and is engraved with a finely executed armorial crest depicting a lion rampant. Marrow scoops were prized dining implements during the Georgian period, designed with differently sized ends for extracting marrow from bones at the table. This example remains in very good antique condition with an attractive mellow patina and wear consistent with its age, making it a fine addition to any collection of Irish silver or Georgian flatware.
