Pewter French Tastevin or Grease Pot

$100.00
This item is pewter and is of an unknown purpose. Similar items with the same French coin motif have come to auction market as tastevins. This is possible, though it may also be a grease pot as traditionally used by french butchers. There are a couple of touchmarks. Faint signs that it was worked on a lathe at the bottom. And then, of course, there's the coin motif. The center is emblazoned with "sit nomen domini H benedictum". In an ecu coin, the H would refer to the La Rochelle mint. This "coin" bears the date of 1790. A riveting thing. Check out some of my other antiques: https://www.etsy.com/shop/DCSILVERSHOP?ref=search_shop_redirect§ion_id=6783279 Or just browse around the shop! https://www.etsy.com/shop/DCSILVERSHOP
