Qing Chinese White Jadeite Recumbent Qilin (麒麟) Hand Carved Sculpture, 36mm

$2,500.00
A finely carved Qing dynasty Chinese white jadeite qilin, depicted in a compact recumbent pose with its head turned toward the curled, bushy tail. The qilin, one of the most auspicious creatures of Chinese mythology, is traditionally associated with benevolence, prosperity, longevity, and the appearance of an important or virtuous person. This small sculpture is notable for the quality and completeness of its carving. The qilin is worked three-dimensionally throughout, including the underside, which is carefully modeled with fully articulated feet and individually defined toes. The tail curves forward close to the creature's snout, creating an unusually compact and pleasing composition. The carving retains the characteristic animated and somewhat fantastical treatment of the qilin, with careful attention to its anatomy and ornamental details. The jadeite has a fine white appearance. At only 22 x 36 × 43 mm, it is a diminutive sculpture, but one with considerable detail and presence. An appealing example of Chinese jadeite carving suitable for a serious jade or Chinese art collection. Dimensions: 36 × 43 × 22 mm Material: White jadeite Period: Qing Dynasty Subject: Qilin (麒麟) Condition: Very good antique condition Check out some of my other jade: https://www.etsy.com/shop/DCSILVERSHOP?ref=shop_sugg§ion_id=49256775 Or just browse around the shop! https://www.etsy.com/shop/DCSILVERSHOP
